Independent Founders Alliance

There have never been more of us. And yet most of us are still alone.

The Independent Founders Alliance is being built to change that: a nonprofit-committed body for people who build and own what they ship. Solo founders and small teams. Any country, any stack, any stage, including before launch.

Free to join. No fees, no equity, no gatekeeping. We ask nothing of you when you join.

Why an alliance

Every platform, cloud, processor and marketplace we build on is organised. Each of them meets us one at a time. Nobody planned that imbalance. It is simply what happens when one side of the table is a company and the other side is a person, repeated a million times over.

IFA is meant to be the other side of that table: a body that answers to independent founders, and to nobody else.

What we're building

Three functions, each labelled with what actually exists today.

The Hub IN PROGRESS

A shared home for the trade: practical knowledge, honest numbers, peer support. Free to everyone, member or not, and shaped by what members say they need.

The Credential NOT BUILT YET

A way to prove you and your venture are real without a VC's signature, so the doors that open for a referral code open for demonstrated work.

The Voice NOT BUILT YET

Where a platform's terms, holds, or silence hurt this trade, said together, in public, with evidence. Nothing has been published yet.

All three in detail, including what does not exist →

What joining is, and is not

Three fields, and it costs nothing. There is no pledge to sign, nothing to qualify for, and no obligation attached. You are not a customer here and you are not a lead: the roll is never sold, rented, or shared.

What we refuse to promise until it exists: benefits, discounts, vendor programs, influence. Membership will never require money unless the members approve that by vote, after the alliance has proven it gives something real.

The safeguards

An alliance meant to represent its members has to be hard to take away from them. These are the rules we run by from day one. Read the Charter.

  1. Transparency LIVEFinances, funders and decisions published as they happen. The ledger is open now.
  2. The commons stays freeOpen to all, forever, including to people who never join.
  3. The roll is never merchandiseMembership is never sold, rented, or shared.
  4. Disagreement is safe hereCriticising IFA never costs a member their standing.
  5. The alliance is not for saleNo exit, no acquisition, no conversion. It belongs to its members.
  6. Membership costs nothing until it has earned otherwiseNo dues unless members vote for them. Volunteering is always welcome, and always a choice.

Who is behind this

IFA was created by Dave London, an independent founder himself. Decisions are made in the open and logged from decision one. Governance →

Who is not behind this: no vendors, no platforms, no venture funds, no trade groups. Check the ledger.

IFA is built by independent founders and builders, for independent founders and builders.

Want to help?

Help IFA grow: share this with a founder who builds alone. For now the address to pass on is independentfoundersalliance.org.

Help build and improve IFA: ideas, corrections, and hands are all welcome. Say hello.

Come and walk with us.

Three fields. No fees, no equity, and nothing asked of you.
