A support system for independent founders, owned by no one but them.
Building something of your own is hard, and most of what exists to help was built to profit from that difficulty: accelerators that take equity, platforms that ask for subscriptions and lock-in, training programs that sell access. The Independent Founders Alliance is meant to be a different approach: an organization designed and owned by its members, aligned with them by construction, built around the real challenges and pain points of being a solo builder or small team facing large and organized industries. It is a chance to make the path we chose a little easier to walk, for us and for those that will follow.
Why now
There have never been more of us.
New tools have put building real ventures within one person's reach, and more people take that road every year, all over the world. That there is no unifying, representative body working on behalf of this emerging and growing sector means a great deal of collective value is going unused. That is the gap IFA sets out to close, for anyone building something of their own: solo founders and small teams, any country, any stack, any stage.
What we're building
The Hub
IN PROGRESSA shared home for the trade: practical knowledge, honest numbers, peer support. Free to everyone, member or not, and shaped by what members say they need.
The Credential
PLANNEDA way to prove you and your venture are real without a VC's signature, so the doors that open for a referral code open for demonstrated work.
The Voice
PLANNEDWhere a platform's terms, holds, or silence hurt this trade, said together, in public, with evidence.
The safeguards
An alliance meant to represent its members has to be hard to take away from them.
Read the Charter- TransparencyFinances, funders and decisions published as they happen. The ledger is open now.
- The commons stays freeOpen to all, forever, including to people who never join.
- Members' data is private by defaultYour information will never be monetized. You decide if your membership is public or not.
- Disagreement is safe hereCriticising IFA never costs a member their standing.
- The alliance is not for saleNo exit, no acquisition, no conversion. It belongs to its members.
- Membership costs nothing until it has earned otherwiseNo dues unless members vote for them. Volunteering is always welcome, and always a choice.
Who is building this
IFA was created by Dave London, an independent founder himself. Decisions are made in the open and logged from decision one. Nobody else is behind it: no vendors, no platforms, no venture funds, no trade groups. Governance · Check the ledger
